The Texas LTC gives legal protections and multiple benefits when carrying a gun in Texas. Not only are there advantages within Texas law for having an LTC, the online class also covers material that every gun owner is responsible to know and is crucial to be aware of. Permitless carry, or constitutional carry, does not effect the LTC in Texas. Every responsible gun owner should still have an LTC for the reasons listed above.
Anyone can take the online LTC class. Anyone that take the class after their 19th birthday, will be able to submit the training to DPS for the LTC when they are 21. This is because the certificate is valid for 2 years.
